Marou Faiseurs de Chocolat was among the first “bean to bar” concerns in Asia and one of the few in the world to make chocolate at origin. What began as a dream for two wayward Frenchmen has snowballed into a brand of pure dark chocolate entirely made from Vietnam’s finest ingredients.

When deciding which Marou bars to choose the Pho Spice bar could not be passed.  Pho is one of our go to meals here in Chicago and we love the integration of these spices into Vietnamese chocolate.

PHO SPICE 65% - Anniversary Bar

Marou celebrates 10 years by making this ode to Vietnam.  Here they blend the fragrant spices (cardamom, star anise, coriander, cinnamon, and cloves) significant to the taste of traditional Pho with their signature single origin dark chocolate.  The result is a surprisingly delightful blend of flavor.  

Ingredients: Cacao Nibs, Cane Sugar, Cacao Butter, Coriander, Green Cardamom, Cinnamon, Star Anise, Cloves

GINGER and LIME 69%

A harmonious blend of the bitterness of cacao, the spiciness of ginger, and the sweet acidity of lime.  The result is a great chocolate bar celebrating traditional Southeast Asia flavors.

MEKONG KUMQUAT 68%

Fruit that grows together, goes together! This bar highlights the warm, spicy notes of Tien Giang cacao with vibrant, exotic Kumquats grown in nearby orchards.

Tien Giang is a province located in southern Vietnam along the Mekong Delta, only a boat ride from Saigon.

COCONUT MILK 55%

A province known for its cassia-scented cacao and sweet coconuts, warm and fruity Ben Tre cacao marries sweetly with delicately rich coconut milk.

Located in Southern Vietnam, Ben Tre is filled with coconuts that flourish along the Mekong Delta, providing shade for this naturally sweet Trinitario cacao.

DAK LAK PEPPER & PINCH OF SALT 66%

Buttery and fresh tasting, this cacao is grown in central Vietnam amdist pepper vines and coffee plantations, lending bright earthiness to this dark chocolate.

Dak Lak is also known as the 'pepper province'. With nearly 30,000 acres of pepper trees growing in just one province among many more others, Vietnam is currently the worlds largest pepper exporter.

TASTING: mild, fresh tasting, cashews, peppery finish, earthy

A full bodied chocolate with notes spices and honey, made from the finest cacao grown by farmers in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.
